When Rebecca and Robert reached out about capturing their engagement session, they knew exactly what they wanted: something relaxed, natural, and meaningful to them. No stiff poses, no forced smiles—just the two of them, in a place that already felt like home. We landed on Amagansett Beach, a quiet, windswept stretch of the Hamptons that felt perfect for the occasion.
As a documentary-style engagement photographer, my goal is always to create space for real moments to unfold. This session wasn’t about perfect lighting or traditional poses—it was about telling a story, honestly and simply.
Photographed by Peter Falla this session was full of soft evening light, laughter, and the kind of quiet connection that’s hard to fake.
The Hamptons are known for their glamour, but Amagansett Beach is a different kind of beautiful—wild, open, and peaceful. Rebecca and Robert wanted something simple, so we met just before sunset with no agenda other than to walk the beach, get our feet wet, and let the evening unfold.
They brought a blanket and a small bottle of champagne, which stayed tucked away until the very end. Most of our time was spent wandering the shoreline, barefoot and windswept, with the sky glowing golden behind them.
What I love about documentary-style photography is how effortless it can feel. There’s no pressure to perform, no need to look at the camera unless it feels right. It’s just about being fully present.
Rebecca wore a flowing linen dress that caught the breeze beautifully, while Robert kept it simple with a button-up and rolled sleeves. They walked, laughed, leaned into each other—and forgot the camera was even there.
As the light shifted, so did the mood of the session. We moved from golden hour into soft, dusky blues, and the energy slowed. They sat on the sand, talked quietly, and watched the tide come in. It’s always these in-between moments—quiet hands, shared glances, windswept hair—that become the most memorable.
Toward the end, they popped open the champagne, toasted to their upcoming wedding, and shared a few final laughs as the sun dipped below the horizon.
Whether you’re planning a wedding, elopement, or engagement session, the Hamptons offer a kind of magic that’s hard to replicate elsewhere. The beaches feel endless and untouched, and even in the height of summer, it’s easy to find quiet corners like Amagansett where it feels like it’s just the two of you.
Rebecca and Robert’s session was a beautiful reminder that you don’t need much to create something meaningful. Just the right setting, good light, and space to be yourselves.
